In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Hi-Am charity foundation is proud to present Jazz Variations - a Komitas tribute concert featuring Datevik Hovanesian, the Tigran Martikyan Quartet, and Fractal Limit.
Datevik Hovanesian is a world renowned jazz singer, educator, recording artist and arranger who has spent decades performing in countless countries, in every sort of medium and event, and within all musical settings. She will perform vocals with Bob Albanese on piano, Joe Fitzgerald on bass, and David Meade on drums.
The Tigran Martikyan Quartet has been described as a masterful mering of international folk traditions with the eclectic sounds of modern big city music. The quartet of famed jazz figures is headed by Tigran Martikyan on piano, with Shai Golan on saxophone, Gave Davis on bass, and Lee Spath on drums.
Fractal Limit is the musical duo of Tatiana Parra on vocals and Vardan Ovespian on piano. The union of these two musicians balances contrapuntal complexity with lyricism to explore innovative territories in the art of duality.
Join us in paying tribute to Komitas, the father of the Armenian national school of music. The concert will be hosted by TV personality Arshalous Darbinyan and will take place on March 28th, 7pm at the John Wayne Performing Arts Center in Glendale, California.
